FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You’ve Got Questions — We’ve Got Answers

WHEN DO THE BUSES LEAVE AND RETURN TO MADISON?

Buses for the 2020 tours will be leaving on Saturday, March 14, and returning on Saturday, March 21. Buses will usually depart the University of Wisconsin campus around 9:00 am and return to campus around 4:00 pm the following Saturday.

SHOULD I SIGN UP EVEN IF I DON'T KNOW ANYONE ELSE GOING?

Absolutely! In fact, most of our participants sign up without knowing anyone else on their bus. Our bus core intentionally facilitate activities to help everyone get to know each other. The PIF Tour is all about building a bus community, you really will have 44 new friends when you head back to campus!

CAN MY FRIENDS AND I SIGN UP FOR THE SAME BUS?

Yes, just make sure to sign up soon because there may not be enough seats available for all of you. There are only 40 spots on a bus, so make sure that you don't wait too long!

WHAT'S THE DEADINE TO SIGN UP?

You have until the night before the PIF Tour starts to sign up. However, buses will start to fill up by then, so it's better to sign up earlier.

DO I HAVE TO PAY THE COST ALL AT ONCE?

Nope! Just make a $125 down payment to reserve your spot and you'll have up until the day the trip leaves to pay the remainder of the $250. We also have financial aid still available, email pif.wisc@gmail.com for an application.

WHAT KIND OF SERVICE SHOULD I EXPECT?

We've done all kinds of service projects in the past. We typically don't tell participants what the service projects are ahead of time just to keep the intrigue alive. In the past we've worked with Habitat for Humanity, homeless shelters, elderly homes, physical rehabilitation faciliites, Boys and Girls Club of America, national parks, ecological conservation nonprofits -- the list goes on and on! Generally the bus core try to create a variety of service experiences, so if you're not too crazy about one particular type of service, there will be other kinds.
